Overview
One of the longest of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Temple Scroll has been an invaluable resource for scholars and historians since its discovery in 1967. Containing many biblical quotations in modified, abbreviated, or expanded form, the Temple Scroll is also unique in that it almost invariably alters from third person to first person when recording divine revelations from the Biblical text. Giving the exact specifications for a temple that was never built, as well as detailing extensive procedures for sacrifices and temple practices, the Temple Scroll was one of the most extraordinary discoveries at Qumran.
